His meeting with nicotine was not like other young people, experiencing occasional cigarette hidden from their parents. Vladimir Gamboa Castillo was drawn to the sepia alo to drop a cigarette in the liquid spilled on the ground. Then felt the need to experiment and that curiosity became invaluable resource.
Clear that the principle hues were scarce. Then firmly insisted to reach very low tones ... and finally able to achieve the needed contrast.
Experience as a painter in search of their own pigments is not news. Vladimir knows that from the native plant ash was used to make pictographs.
YOU PUT A NAME
And it was difficult to combine the words nicotine and dye for a new term: "NICOTINTA." With that name was registered in Adavis to ensure the images and process.
"My first job with nicotine," and called Vladimir the portrait of José Martí with an ink well clear yet. Then came other works that mark the beginning of any series as Skin Havana (internal view, sad places with their history), Girls tan (Picture of Cuban sensuality of the aroma of snuff) or Havana cigar (filled with more Habana Vieja)
Nicotinta under the name of the artist locates other elements such as ash and smoke. And the latter makes fugases images of sky, buildings in the water, clouds. For strange as it may seem to many, the traces of smoke trapped in the cardboard through masks are removed after application. Vladimir admits that sometimes touches up the stain, but often do not need anything else.
THE CONCEPT THAT DOMINATES HIS WORK
This young man graduated from the National Art School in 1993, says nothing bad in itself ... is the use you give to things which results in a well, injury or feelings of pleasure. Vladimir insists that it intends to become an opponent of the right to smoke.
Nor is it meant to campaign under the precept: "Do not smoke it ... enjoy it in a work of art ', and support while you miss a playful smile.
But the fact that the Cuban snuff with its indisputable quality travel the world. Say about Cuba's cigar and that image that provokes its aroma can also be seen in the works with NICOTINTA.
Those who follow his work through solo exhibitions, and partnerships with events and contests, they know the intimacy that inhabits its paintings and the marked tendency to use the cuttlefish.
Long ago discovered the desire of viewers to find items hidden from view when approaching a work. Vladimir meets those expectations by providing sneak a small face, hand drawn, shapes and images.
A TEST OF PATIENCE ALMOST EVERYTHING
And indeed this plastic artist is a patient man and fair. I know that "in almost all" is a very large expression to speak of tolerance. Let's say that only two naughty little boys called Abner and Abdiel reached across that fortress, brush in hand when approaching a work. In contrast to stand in front of him early in the morning with a "Dad I'm here" their children become pure inspiration.
When in a good mood, he sits to paint and as usual tunes Radio Musical Nacional. One day, one of his friends enjoyed their marine paints. Vladimir remember listening to background music and sounds of seagulls came coincidentally. The friend said: "You know that when I watch your seagulls I think they're alive?"
The artist Vladimir Castillo Gamboa discover how to create feeds, "I make a link to what I hear, see and smell. I love the work, it helps me to inspire me, I am very happy when I finish a piece. "
Also confesses that when he sees a finished work can finally sleep, but sometimes sleep is cut in the morning by the desire to return to painting and review it from top to bottom, again and again.
These days the dream comes back to give him quiet images of Havana, cigar.
